The just concluded Awareness Workshop with the theme: Capacity Building Program for Stakeholders Across the Niger Delta Region on Community Ownership and Protection of NDDC Projects, was sponsored by NDDC.

The event took place on Monday, Mar 9, 2026, at Banquet Hall, Green Minds Hotels, Idoro Road, Uyo.

The Commissioner representing Akwa Ibom on the governing board Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Apostle Abasiandikan Nkono, who selected the participants, only picked Members of the Aboriginal APC Members. This ofcourse is against their preaching of exclusivity.

Lately, the name ‘Aboriginal’ APC Members found its way into the APC lexicon, since it’s creation. They protested against the invasion of their “properties” the APC. They called for the sack of the Secretary of State Government and others. As if that’s not enough they called on the State Government to dissolution of the State executive council, in order to include them.

Today, the NDDC Commissioner, representing Akwa Ibom State, runs the NDDC with only his old members, hereinafter referred to as ‘Aboriginal’ APC Members.

This is evident in the selection of participants to all NDDC sponsored seminars, workshops and capacity building programs.

They lied to us that within 24hrs of joining the APC, all our Rights and Privileges in the party shall be given to us equally like the Old Members.

Established in June 2000, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is a federal agency focused on fostering sustainable, economic, and peaceful development across the Niger Delta region.

The commission covers nine oil-producing states: Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, and Rivers.
