CITY BOY MOVEMENT IS THE ENGINE FOR TINUBU’S 2027 VICTORY – Akpabio.

The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has declared that the City Boy Movement is set to play a decisive role in securing a massive re-election win for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

Akpabio made this known on Wednesday in Abuja while receiving a delegation of the movement led by its Director-General, Francis Shoga.

Describing the group as a powerful political force, the Senate President said the movement’s energy is already being felt across the country.

“The City Boy Movement is like a wind blowing across the nation. You may not see it, but you can feel it. Every political party in Nigeria is already feeling the impact,” Akpabio stated.

He praised the group for its dedication and patriotism, noting that its focus on grassroots mobilization will close gaps witnessed in previous elections.

“Never again will there be a polling unit in Nigeria where Mr. President will not have an agent, because we now have the City Boy Movement. In the last election, if your movement had existed, many of our votes that were not counted would have been counted,” he said.

Akpabio urged members to remain focused despite criticism, adding that while the movement is busy mobilizing and educating voters, other political parties are “sleeping.”

“When the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is announced, people will say it was rigged. Ignore all that and stay focused. This is your turn to shape your future and take the lead on how Nigeria should go,” he charged.

The Senate President also described the engagement as a learning ground for the youths. He said campaigning for Tinubu now would equip them with the skills to contest for positions themselves in the future.

While acknowledging challenges like cultism and drug abuse affecting some youths, Akpabio emphasized the need to support young people.
“They say ‘build the youths’ because they are the future. I also say ‘maintain the elders’ because they are the ones God has given wisdom today,” he added.

Quoting a philosopher, the Senate President, who is also Grand Patron of the movement, warned members against derailing.
“It is not a tragedy when a nonentity ends up a failure. But it is a tragedy when a potentially great young man or woman fails because of character flaws. You are privileged to chart the path of the next administration. It will be a tragedy for any of you to derail. We are 100 percent with you,” Akpabio assured.

Earlier, the Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Francis Shoga, said the visit was to strengthen ties with the National Assembly.
“We seek your continued guidance and support as we expand our programmes across the country, deepen civic engagement among young Nigerians and contribute meaningfully to national development,” Shoga said.
