SERVICE, NOT AMBITION: ANIEKAN AKPAN DECLARES FOR EKET STATE CONSTITUENCY

Former Eket Local Government Chairman, Hon. Aniekan Akpan, has declared his bid for the Eket State Constituency seat in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

Akpan made the announcement on Friday during a press briefing at Merafany Sports Lounge, Ikot Udoma Road, Eket. He said the decision came after months of reflection, wide consultations, and prayers, adding that he was grateful to God for His guidance throughout his years in public service.

He stressed that his ambition was rooted in service, not personal gain. According to him, effective representation requires experience, competence, and a record of delivery—qualities he said he brings to the table.

If elected, Akpan pledged to give every ward, zone, and citizen fair and equal representation. He promised to act as a link between the people and government, channeling concerns upward and ensuring honest feedback returns to the grassroots.

The former council chairman also commended Governor Umo Eno for driving development across the state, and praised Eket LGA Chairman Akaniyene Tommey for visible progress at the local level.

He lauded President Bola Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio for backing direct primaries and electoral reforms, describing the move as a win for party members and a step toward stronger democracy.
