EKET APC HARPS ON ZONING, RALLIES BEHIND ASSAM ASSAM

– Meeting endorses Akata for second term

– Says Senate zoning to Ikot Abasi stands

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Eket Local Government Area have restated their commitment to zoning ahead of the 2027 general elections and reaffirmed support for Amb. Assam Assam, SAN, as the party’s political leader in the area.

The position was taken on Wednesday at a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting held at the Ede Urua residence of Amb. Assam Assam in Eket.

Addressing the gathering, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Frank Archibong, said zoning must be upheld in the interest of fairness and equity within the Eket/Esit Eket/Ibeno/Onna Federal Constituency. He insisted that Ibeno Local Government Area should be allowed to complete its eight-year tenure in the House of Representatives by 2027.

“For the record, I am committed to whatever it takes for Eket to succeed. As 2027 approaches, zoning must be upheld in the federal constituency, and Ibeno should complete its eight years in the Green Chamber,” Archibong said.

In his remarks, Amb. Assam Assam thanked party faithful for the confidence reposed in his leadership. He also endorsed the Member representing Eket State Constituency, Dr. Nsidibe Akata, for a second term, saying the lawmaker had delivered on his mandate. The endorsement was unanimously approved by those present.

Assam Assam added that the earlier decision by stakeholders across Eket Senatorial District to zone the Senate seat to Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency remained valid and unchanged.

Eket Local Government Chairman, Mr. Akaniyene Tommey, described Assam Assam’s leadership as inclusive and experienced, adding that it would position the APC for victory in 2027. “His track record and dedication to party ideals make him well-suited to lead us,” he said.

The stakeholders called on APC members to remain united and loyal, and urged Aspirants to respect internal agreements and party guidelines ahead of the polls.
