…..Says Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District Needs a Ranking Senator in 2027

The leadership and members of the Public Policy Committee, an intellectual think tank of Senator Ekong Sampson, have commended the senator for his sound, vibrant, consistent, and robust legislative engagements on the floor of the Senate.

The commendation was made on Monday, May 11, 2026, during an enlarged meeting of the committee held at the Lugard Conference Hall of Watbridge Hotels, Uyo.

The committee noted that Senator Sampson has made strong advocacies and calls on matters relating to the maritime economy, youth development, infrastructure, and national development.

Chairman of the Public Policy Committee, Prof Etieben Akpan and Secretary, Prof Peter Esuh, acknowledged the robust collaboration and mutually beneficial partnership between Senator Ekong Sampson, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno.

They emphasized that this relationship has enabled Senator Sampson to chair a strategic committee in the Senate and has earned him tremendous goodwill and support from Governor Umo Eno as well as attracting positive dividends Of democracy to Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District.

Dignitaries present at the meeting unanimously resolved that Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District should support performance, capacity, experience, and ranking by voting Senator Ekong Sampson back to the Senate.

Barr. Bassey Dan Abia, former Member, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dr. Owoedighe Ekpotai, former Member, National Assembly, Sir. Adasi Ubolum and Họn Dr. Charles Mbong, former Members, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly

In his remarks, Senator Ekong Sampson thanked the Public Policy Committee for their consistent and unmitigated support. He also acknowledged the goodwill and support he enjoy from Governor Umo Eno and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, whom he described as promise keepers and detribalised leaders.

He highlighted his strides in education, health, and infrastructure projects across the 12 LGAs of Akwa Ibom South, as well as his sponsorship of quality bills and motions, empowerment of constituents with cars, and facilitation of employment into federal MDAs.

Senator Sampson listed the benefits of ranking status in the National Assembly, noting that ranking gives a legislator greater influence in committee leadership and policy formulation, priority access to legislative slots for bills, motions, and debates, Stronger bargaining power to attract federal projects and interventions to the constituency, enhanced credibility to secure partnerships with MDAs and development institutions, increased capacity to drive constituency empowerment and employment opportunities.

He pledged to leverage his ranking status to attract more dividends of democracy to Akwa Ibom South if re-elected for a second term.
