PVC IS YOUR POWER’: AKWA IBOM GOVT. URGES STUDENTS TO REGISTER AHEAD OF DEADLINE.

The Akwa Ibom State Government has charged student leaders across tertiary institutions to take the lead in mobilizing their colleagues for the ongoing Permanent Voter’s Card, PVC, mop-up registration exercise.

The call was made on Wednesday by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mkpisóng Hon. Frank Archibong , during an interactive session with student stakeholders in Uyo, the capital city.

Representing Governor Pastor Umo Eno , Hon. Archibong met with the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Students’ Union Government Presidents, Local Government Worldwide Presidents, Chapter Presidents, Niger Delta Students Union Government, NiDSUG, STRC, NAAKISS, and other student bodies.

Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner said the meeting was part of the Governor’s ARISE Agenda commitment to engage youths and carry them along in governance.

He reeled out people-oriented programmes of the Eno administration in education, skills acquisition, and youth empowerment, noting that sustainable development can only be achieved when young people are involved.

Turning to the electoral process, Hon. Archibong stressed the urgency of civic participation.
“The PVC remains the most powerful tool for you to decide the kind of leaders and future you want, not just for Akwa Ibom, but for Nigeria,” he said.
“Time is running out on the mop-up registration. I urge every student who is yet to register or update their PVC to do so immediately. Don’t wait till the last minute.”

As part of his support for the campaign, the Commissioner also doled out financial and logistical assistance to the student leaders to aid grassroots sensitization across campuses.

In their response, the student leaders applauded Governor Umo Eno for his “unwavering commitment to students’ welfare, youth development, and inclusive governance.”

They also thanked Hon. Archibong for what they described as “fatherly guidance, productive engagement, and generous support toward the PVC registration drive.”

Speaking on behalf of the group, the leaders pledged to cascade the message to every campus, faculty, department, and student corner in the state.
“We will intensify sensitization and ensure that no eligible student is left behind,” they assured. “We are committed to encouraging every student to get their PVC and participate actively in shaping the future of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.”

The engagement ended with a renewed call for unity among students and alignment with government policies aimed at youth empowerment.
