Elder Benjamin Udobia has been widely described as one of the most influential grassroots leaders in Esit Eket Local Government Area, with community stakeholders pointing to his consistent commitment to human development, inclusive leadership, and sustainable progress.

Recognised as a compassionate statesman, Elder Udobia’s influence cuts across politics, social development and philanthropy, earning him respect beyond party lines and community boundaries. His leadership philosophy, observers note, is firmly anchored on people-centred development, with deliberate focus on women empowerment, youth mentorship, and the promotion of peace and unity.

Over the years, he has invested significantly in grooming young people through mentorship and skills support, while providing economic and moral backing for women to regain dignity and self-reliance. Community leaders say these interventions have helped reposition many beneficiaries to thrive in an increasingly competitive socio-economic environment.

At Secondary School, Edo, Elder Udobia constructed a modern, fully equipped ICT and computer centre, alongside VIP toilet facilities for students and teachers. The project has significantly improved the learning environment and expanded access to digital skills, drawing commendations from community leaders, the State Secondary Education Board (SUBEB), parents and students.

In line with his belief that education remains the bedrock of societal development, Elder Udobia has awarded full scholarships to over 30 students from Edo and Esit Eket throughout their tertiary education. He has also extended postgraduate scholarship opportunities to several deserving indigenes of the local government area.

Beyond education, he has facilitated and attracted various infrastructural projects to his community, including the construction of boreholes that provide access to clean and potable water. His humanitarian gestures further extend to the regular settlement of hospital bills for indigent patients and sustained support for widows and vulnerable persons.
