STAKEHOLDERS IN ONIONG, NNUNG NDEM CLANS IN ONNA LGA LAUDS GOVERNOR ENO OVER THE RE-AWARD OF NDON EYO-IKOT AKPATEK- IKOT NTUEN- IKWE ROAD.

Stakeholders in ONNA Local Government Area have lauded Governor Umo Eno for re-awarding a 14km road project that was abandoned by successive Government for over a decade now. The road links Ndon Eyo, Ikot Ntuen, Ikot Akpatek, Ikwe, all in Onna LGAs and Odio Community in Eket LGA.

Recalled that during the last week’s State Executive Council meeting, the Governor had re-awarded the Ndon Eyo- Ikot Akpatek-Ikot Ntuen-Ikwe road to another contractor.

This development has excited the Stakeholders from the affected villages that are under the Clans of Oniong and Nnung Ndem.

Due to the bad road, the people are completely cut- off from the main Onna and Eket town. They are economically strangulated and grossly disadvantage. Cost of food items and transportation have tripled because of the condition of the road. It would get worse during this rainy season. Hence their joy for the timely intervention by Government of Pastor Umo Eno, Phd.

The stakeholders thanked the Governor for addressing their plea, saying the move is a “beacon of hope” for residents who’ve endured hardship due to the poor road condition, which hindered economic growth, access to healthcare, and overall quality of life.

The communities recalled that successive governments had neglected the road project, leaving residents to suffer, but praised Governor Eno’s dedication to their development.

“We appreciate your efforts and look forward to work commencing soon,” one of the Stakeholders from Nnung Ndem Clan said.

The communities promised to reciprocate with “massive votes” in 2027, saying “we are beginning to feel your impact”.

The re-award of the project is seen as a significant breakthrough for the communities, expected to boost economic activities, improve living standards, and enhance overall well-being.
